Before You Start — Philippine-Specific Checklist

Before installing any security device, verify these Philippine-specific requirements:

Tools you will need for most installations: Phillips screwdriver — Drill with 3mm and 6mm bits — Measuring tape — Pencil for marking — Spirit level — Electrical tape — Smartphone (for app setup)

Step 1: Installing a Fingerprint Door Lock

This guide covers replacing an existing mortise key lock with a HomeSecurityPH DL-100 or DL-200 fingerprint lock. Estimated time: 20-45 minutes.

Required tools

Phillips screwdriver — Flathead screwdriver — Optional: drill if door has no existing hole

Step-by-step installation

  1. Remove the existing lock. Unscrew the interior handle/rose plate (2-4 screws). Pull the handle off. Remove the mortise body by unscrewing the faceplate screws on the door edge and sliding the body out.
  2. Check the door hole dimensions. The DL-100/DL-200 uses a standard 72mm center-to-center latch spacing, which matches most Philippine mortise lock holes. If the hole is too small, use a chisel or Dremel to expand slightly.
  3. Insert the new latch body. Slide the new stainless latch body into the door edge hole. Secure with the two faceplate screws provided. The latch handle should now extend properly.
  4. Feed the wiring through the door. The lock connects the exterior and interior units via a flat ribbon cable that passes through the existing door hole. Thread this cable through the hole so both ends are accessible.
  5. Mount the exterior lock body. Connect the ribbon cable to the exterior unit's connector. Align with the door holes and secure using the two long through-bolts provided. Hand-tighten, then firm with a screwdriver. Do not overtighten on narra doors.
  6. Mount the interior lock body. Connect the ribbon cable to the interior unit and press the interior panel against the door. Secure with the two interior screws.
  7. Install batteries. Insert 4 — AA batteries in the interior compartment. The display should illuminate and prompt initial setup.
  8. Set the admin PIN. Follow the on-screen prompt to set your 6-digit admin PIN. This PIN unlocks admin mode for adding fingerprints and RFID cards — keep it private.
  9. Register fingerprints. Enter admin mode — Add Fingerprint — Place the same finger 6 times on the sensor as prompted. Repeat for each family member (up to 100 prints).
  10. Test all access methods. Test fingerprint, PIN, and the provided RFID card before considering installation complete. Test the emergency key override last.

Troubleshooting common issues

Issue Cause Fix
Fingerprint not recognized Wet or dirty finger Clean sensor glass — dry finger — re-register
Lock beeps but won't turn Latch misaligned with strike plate Adjust strike plate position by 1-2mm
Ribbon cable pinched Door hole too tight Use a chisel to slightly widen the internal channel
Low battery warning after 1 week Non-alkaline batteries Replace with Energizer or Duracell alkaline AA only

Step 2: Installing CCTV Cameras

This covers both WiFi cameras (DIY-friendly) and PoE NVR systems (moderate DIY). Estimated time: 1-2 hours per camera for PoE; 20 minutes per camera for WiFi.

WiFi Camera Installation (CI-200, CI-400, CO-200)

  1. Choose camera position. Mount at 2.5-3m height, angled 15-30x downward. Ensure the field of view covers the target entry point without including neighbor's property.
  2. Mark and drill mounting holes. Hold the mounting bracket against the wall at the marked position. Mark the 3 screw holes with a pencil. Drill with a 6mm bit for concrete walls (use wall plugs included). Use 3mm bit for wood.
  3. Mount the bracket. Screw the bracket into the wall. Hang the camera body on the bracket and lock the tilt/pan adjustment to your desired angle. Tighten the locking nut.
  4. Power the camera. Run the included power adapter cable to the nearest outlet. For outdoor cameras, use a weatherproof outdoor outlet or route the cable through the wall to an interior outlet.
  5. Connect to app. Download Tuya Smart (iOS/Android). Create an account — Add Device — follow the camera's QR code pairing process. Connect to your 2.4GHz WiFi network when prompted.
  6. Configure motion alerts. In the camera settings, enable AI human detection and set up push notifications to your phone. Disable "all motion" alerts to reduce false triggers from trees and vehicles.

PoE NVR System Installation (NVR-4CH, NVR-8CH)

  1. Position the NVR unit. Place near your router (requires LAN connection) and a 220V outlet. The NVR powers all cameras via the same CAT6 cable — no separate power runs needed per camera.
  2. Pre-plan all cable routes. Before drilling, plan the full cable path from each camera position to the NVR location. Use conduit (electrical PVC pipe) for exterior cable runs — UV and typhoon protection.
  3. Drill and run CAT6 cable. Drill 20mm holes through walls at each cable entry point. Fish the CAT6 cable from camera position to NVR, pulling through conduit on exterior runs. Leave 0.5m slack at each end.
  4. Connect cameras to NVR. Plug each camera's CAT6 cable into a numbered PoE port on the NVR. The NVR automatically assigns channels and powers the camera. No additional configuration per camera needed.
  5. Connect NVR to monitor and router. Connect HDMI to a TV or monitor for local viewing. Connect LAN cable to your router for remote app viewing.
  6. Configure remote viewing. Use the NVR's QR code (found in the system menu) to connect the HomeSecurityPH or Tuya app for remote live viewing and playback from your phone.

Step 3: Installing a Wireless Alarm System

For AH-WA300 (WiFi + RF) or AH-GA200 (GSM). Estimated time: 1-2 hours total for an 8-piece kit.

  1. Mount the alarm hub. Place near a 220V outlet, centrally located in the home (typically hallway or living room). Plug into power. Insert a SIM card (GSM models) or connect to WiFi (WiFi models).
  2. Register the hub. Download Tuya Smart. Add device using the hub's QR code. Follow prompts to connect to your WiFi and register the SIM number (GSM models).
  3. Install door/window sensors. Clean the door frame and door surface with alcohol wipe. Peel the 3M backing off the sensor body and magnet. Stick the sensor body to the door frame, stick the magnet to the door — they should be 5-10mm apart when the door is closed. Press firmly for 30 seconds.
  4. Pair sensors to hub. In the Tuya app, add each sensor: go to Add Device — choose sensor type — hold the sensor's pair button for 3 seconds until it blinks — confirm pairing in app.
  5. Position PIR motion sensors. Mount in hallway corners at 1.8-2.2m height. Aim for chokepoints — the path anyone must walk between the entry and the interior rooms. Mount with 3M adhesive or the provided screws.
  6. Set arm/disarm schedule. In the app, configure auto-arm at 10PM and auto-disarm at 6AM (adjust for your household). Set alert recipients: add your primary phone number and an emergency contact.
  7. Test every sensor. Arm the system, then trigger each sensor one by one. Confirm each triggers an alert on your phone and activates the siren. Test the GSM alert by temporarily disabling WiFi — the alarm should still SMS your phone.

Step 4: Installing Motion Lights

Solar Motion Light (ML-100) — No Electrician Needed

  1. Mount the bracket at the desired position using included screws and wall plugs.
  2. Attach the solar panel to a south-facing surface (maximum sun exposure in the Philippines) using the separate bracket and cable.
  3. Connect the solar panel cable to the light unit.
  4. Set the mode switch: Mode 1 (motion only, recommended) — Mode 2 (dim + motion burst) — Mode 3 (always on).
  5. Adjust the PIR sensitivity dial to medium for Philippine conditions (avoid maximum — insects and small lizards may trigger it).

Wired Floodlight (ML-200) — Licensed Electrician Required for Mains Connection

The ML-200 requires a 220V connection. Under the Philippine Electrical Code (PEC), connection to mains wiring must be performed by a licensed electrician (PRC-licensed or PhilCEA-registered). The mounting and angle adjustment you can do yourself — have an electrician make the final mains connection.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes — HomeSecurityPH fingerprint door locks are designed for DIY installation on standard 35-45mm Philippine wooden doors. The process requires only a screwdriver and takes 20-45 minutes. No drilling needed if replacing an existing mortise lock in the same hole position.
For WiFi cameras that plug into a standard outlet — no, fully DIY. For PoE NVR systems, cable routing can be DIY if you are comfortable with drilling and running CAT6. Only the mains power connection for 220V floodlights requires a PRC-licensed electrician under the Philippine Electrical Code.
A basic setup (fingerprint lock + 2 WiFi cameras + wireless alarm) can be self-installed in 4-6 hours over one day. A full wired CCTV system with NVR and 4+ cameras typically takes 1-2 full days including cable routing and app setup.
Doors outside the 35-45mm range are uncommon in Philippine residential homes but do exist — usually imported steel doors (50-60mm) or very old solid wood doors (50mm+). Contact HomeSecurityPH via WhatsApp before ordering with your door's exact measured thickness and we will advise on compatibility and adapter options.
